Rosaria A. Puglisi received the Master Degree (cum laude) in Physics and the Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Catania. During her PhD she worked for one year with Prof. Harry A. Atwater at the University of Caltech, Pasadena (Los Angeles). After her doctorate Rosaria obtained three scholarships, two from STMicroelectronics and one from INFM, and a Post-Doc (Assegno di Ricerca) from the University of Catania.
Since 2001 Rosaria is Researcher at CNR-IMM, where she has developed the following activities: Nanolithography based on self-assembly of copolymers (since 2005); Advanced semiconductor doping techniques using molecular monolayers (2011); Fabrication and characterization of photodiodes and solar cells based on Si nanostructures (2012).
Since 2017 she is member of the Professors Board of the PhD Course in Physics of the University of Messina. Since 2015 she is the responsible of the Solar Laboratory and the Copolymer Lithography Laboratory. From 2018 to 2020 she was the Coordinator of the "Synthesis of advanced materials" Technological Thematic Area for the IMM headquarters in Catania. She has served the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE), the Ministry of University (MUR) and the VQR evaluation process, as Technical-Scientific Expert and Evaluator. Commissioner, on behalf of the CNR, in more than 30 evaluation commissions for the awarding of scholarships, research grants and collaboration contracts, also in the role of President. She was a member of the Doctoral Examination Committee at the University of Oslo.
Rosaria collaborates with STMicroelectronics, Tyndall, SDU and with several Italian and foreign universities. In 2019 Rosaria received the recognition of having selected her funding proposal for a CNR-Confindustria Industrial PhD scholarship, as part of a selection at national level. The scholarship was also co-financed by STMicroelectronics of Catania, the first for IMM. She has co-organized several symposia in international scientific conferences and has held more than 60 seminars at international scientific conferences, including 9 Invited seminars (IEEE Conference, MRS Conference), 3 Keynote Talks and one Award Talk.
She taught several teaching courses to PhD students and Master students; has been co-tutor for 8 PhD theses, 4 degree theses and 1 three-year degree thesis, and has been the scientific responsible, on behalf of IMM, of several scholarships and research grants.
In 2017 she created for CNR-IMM Catania a project dedicated to the dissemination of scientific disciplines to young women, the STEM Women in Science project, an activity for which she has been invited to present numerous seminars by various Italian schools and universities, presenting the activities to more than 2800 young students and professors.
